黒人による黒人の祭典　NAACPイメージ・アワード2010 ノミネーション発表！

　NAACPイメージ・アワードのノミネーションが発表になりました。(1月6日)

　NAACPというのは、National Association for the Advancement of Colored Peopleの略で、日本語では全米黒人地位向上協会とか全国有色人種向上協会と訳され、1909年発足というアメリカで最も古い公民権運動の団体の１つです。
　NAACPの大会には必ずその時々の大統領がスピーチすることが慣わしになっているというくらいメジャーな団体で、一般にも広く認知されていて、2004年にジョージ・W・ブッシュがスピーチを断ったことがニュースになったりもしています。

　NAACPイメージ・アワードは、映画、テレビ、レコード、文学のジャンルで、「創造的活動を通して、社会的正義の促進に貢献した」作品や人物、グループに贈られる賞で、今年で第41回を迎えます。

　「全米黒人地位向上協会」と聞くと何やら恐ろしげですが、実際にノミネートされている作品を見ると、黒人が主演かもしくは重要な役どころで出演していて、黒人をフェアに描いている(優れた)作品であれば、黒人の地位向上を前面に打ち出していてもいなくても、全然構わないようです。
　だから、白人が主演の作品で好演している黒人俳優や、黒人が多数出演している作品で好演している白人もノミネートの対象になります。
　あえて強引に単純化してしまうと、黒人による黒人のための映画や音楽の祭典、ということになります。

　部門は、非常に多く、映画部門、テレビ部門、音楽部門、文学部門を含めて、全部で53部門もあります。(映画関連の部門は全部で10部門です)

　基本的に個人的な興味の中心は映画部門ですが、全ジャンルのノミネーションを書き出してみることで、複数の部門でノミネートされているMaxwellという人気ミュージシャンがいることを知ったり、アル・ゴアの新刊がノミネートされていたり、ウーピー・ゴールドバーグが児童書を出していたりするのを知ったりもできます。

　ちなみに、昨年度は、『リリィ、はちみつ色の秘密』『キャデラック・レコード』『７つの贈り物』『スラムドッグ＄ミリオネア』『ベンジャミン・バトン数奇な人生』が映画賞を分け合うという結果になっています。
